Julia Skala (*1997 in Wiesbaden) is an illustrator, character designer and visual development artist based in Ludwigsburg, Germany.
After studying communication design in Mainz and completing internships in design and animation, she is currently studying as a student animation directress at Filmakademie Baden Württemberg's Animationsinsitut. Her rainy short film Sommerregen (2020, Co-Dir.: Oscar Jacobson) is currently being screened at film festivals including Max Ophüls Preis 2021, CINANIMA, Anim'est and more.
Julia is dedicated to conveying strong moods and styles through the bold use of color and shapes. In addition she excels in developing expressive character designs.
Currently, Julia is available for freelance illustration work, and specifically interested in editorial illustration jobs.
